Creating Opportunities to Empower Youth

Recess Guardians has been around since 2008 and has been lucky enough to work in schools across Canada. Over this time, we have created a few different programs that allow us to empower kids in different ways and get them playing again.

Recess Guardians Program

This is our flagship program and something we have perfected since our inception. During this half day session, we work in the gym with students in the grade 4-6 range by teaching them games and activities that are good for kids of all ages. We also discuss subjects like inclusion, sportsmanship, communication, etc. and at the end of the session, they get the opportunity to apply what they learned by instructing a group of younger students.

After our session is complete, we have a multitude of ways that the class will take on the role as Recess Guardians’ leaders, but it is totally up to the educators and students on how to proceed.

For more information, please contact Kale Johnson and he would be more than happy to chat with you.

RECESS Champions' Virtual Program

RECESS Champions focuses on empowering youth to discover their leadership potential and make a positive impact within their school and community through physical literacy based games and activities. The program combines fun and practical elements to promote inclusion, fair play, and an enduring love for physical activity and play. Youth participants in RECESS Champions will discover their potential as leaders and gain the tools to create meaningful movement experiences for their younger counterparts.
